FSSAI – License

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is an autonomous authority to provide a Food License to every food businesses in India. FSSAI is responsible for protecting and promoting public health through the regulation and supervision of food safety. FSSAI makes sure that the food business runs with appropriate license and a quality check. The food businesses are required to follow the FSSAI rules and guidelines. FSSAI is in entirely responsible for setting the standard and principles and controls for the welfare of food businesses in India.

Details of FSSAI License

As per the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing & Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011, the guidelines were laid down regarding the fee structure for the Food Business Operators.

All the food businesses in India are mandatorily required to obtain FSSAI Registration and in case if any food business operates without a valid license, they are liable to penalty under the Act.

FSSAI Registration Fee is partitioned into the government expense and expert expense. Government expense formally charged by the govt for the application handling charge and an expert charge is charged by the Professional to set up your application.

Type of Registration

FSSAI registration is segregated in three different types such as Basic registration, State registration and Central registration, the FSSAI fees for these registrations are mentioned below:

1) Basic FSSAI License - Annual turnover below 12 lakhs. Government fees - 100/- per year

2) State FSSAI License - Annual turnover above 12 lakhs and below 20 crores. Government fees – INR 2000/- to 5000/- per year depending upon type of business i.e. manufacturer, retailer etc.

3) Central FSSAI License - Annual turnover above 20 crores. Government fees – INR 7500/- per year

Basic License

  • Photo Identity
  • Pan card
  • NOC by Municipality/Panchayat, Health NOC
  • Declaration about Business details in Form A
  • Proof of possession of the business premises
  • Certificate of Incorporation/ Articles of Association /Partnership deed, etc.

State License

Manufacturing Business

  • Blueprint/layout plan of the processing unit (Manufacturing and processing unit only)
  • Details of the machinery to use for operations (Manufacturing and processing unit only)
  • List of Food categories to be manufactured
  • Authority letter from the manufacturer in favor of the nominated person with authority
  • Water Report (For Manufacturing and processing units)
  • Proof of possession of premises (Rent Agreement / Electricity Bill)
  • Partnership Deed/Affidavit of Proprietorship/MOA /Certificate of Incorporation
  • PAN and Proof of Address (Electricity Bill / Aadhar / Bank Statement) of Partners/ Directors/ Sole Proprietor
  • Source of milk and meat (If applicable)
  • NOCs from Municipality or local body (Shops and Establishment Licence / Trade License)
  • Certificate provided by the Ministry of Tourism (HRACC). (Mandatory for Hotel Only)

 

Repacker / Wholesaler / Retailer

  • List of Food categories to be manufactured
  • Partnership Deed/Affidavit of Proprietorship/MOA /Certificate of Incorporation
  • NOC & Copy of License from the manufacturer (For relabelers and repackers only
  • NOCs from Municipality or local body (Shops and Establishment Licence / Trade License / Any Other License)
  • Certificate provided by the Ministry of Tourism (HRACC). (Mandatory for Hotel Only)
  • PAN and Proof of Address (Electricity Bill / Aadhar / Bank Statement) of Partners/ Directors/ Sole Proprietor

Central License
